Hello there! I am Kritika Malhotra, an Environmental Engineering & Water Resources professional. Welcome to my corner of exploration!
I hold a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering and 9+ years of experience spanning stormwater management, watershed hydrology, sediment transport, soil and water quality, and pollutant transport. I combine field investigations, laboratory analysis, hydrologic modeling, and environmental data science to address complex water-resource challenges. My technical expertise includes GIS, SWAT, HYDRUS-1D, R, Python, Excel, statistical analysis, and machine learning, complemented by an Engineer-in-Training credential and knowledge of environmental regulation and compliance.
Throughout my research career, I have led multidisciplinary projects examining urban stormwater and sediment sources, agricultural nutrient and metal transport, groundwater contamination risk, and watershed impacts. I have designed environmental sampling programs and laboratory experiments, applied EPA-approved analytical methods, and used advanced modeling and quantitative techniques to translate complex data into actionable insights.
I also bring a strong ability to communicate environmental science and connect technical findings with practical decisions. As a USC Postdoctoral Scholar and Teaching Fellow, I taught water quality, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, sustainability, and environmental regulation while developing students' skills in sampling, data analysis, and technical reporting. Across academic, government, and community settings, I have collaborated with USDA researchers, universities, water-resource professionals, and other stakeholders to advance water quality protection and sustainable resource management.
As a curious individual, I am always eager and excited to learn more about the environment around us. I am committed to creating innovative solutions for environmental issues and making meaningful contributions to the scientific community. I believe in the power of collaboration across disciplines.
